Take your typical city drinking barn, cut it in half up the middle, then you'll get a feel for Brooklyn Social. Physically, the bar is long with a cramped small serving area up one end. Ambience inside lacks warmth, with decorations that look hastily stuck on a bare tiled wall finish. Music is typical of a city pub that you'd hope not to see in a smaller venue, think 80's Michael Jackson with some older rock tracks thrown in. It has little in the way of a welcoming feel and it's a bit of a chore when stopped by security to wait outside due to a 'capacity' limit (displayed helpfully on a plaque at the front as 80), only to get inside and find about half that number on a Friday night.
In brief: Brooklyn SocialDisappointing to see a venue with such promise turn out to be like any number of pubs in the city. Rating: 4/10
